This is about as cool a pilot gift as anything out there! I own several Metar maps both home built and purchased but this lamp is my new favorite thing. I manage an airport and can’t even buy the parts to repair my runway lights at this price. Get one!

I saw this runway light/weather alert thing, and I thought to myself, 'this could be really cool, or a dud'. Turns out it was amazing! My husband loved it! He is a pilot who has a few planes, but just restored a J3 Piper cub with some buddies. And after they fought over what the original yellow color should be, they settled on a yellow that is almost this exact color. He said its a really cool gift. When he initially set up the software, it took a minute for it to flee download and work, but he left it plugged in overnight. And then the next morning it worked great. He told me he's so excited. Because whenever the light turns the color saying that our local airport has clear skies. Then he's gonna run down to the airport to fly. Long story...but my point is: It's a great gift for a picky pilot who has everything.

The METAR Light is a genuine metal powder coated taxiway light that has been modified to speak and display flight conditions for any airport or airfield that receives FAA METAR (weather) reports. Great for the office or hangar and a fun conversation starter.

It displays color coded flight conditions and will speak a summary of the lastest METAR report when the base is touched.
Flight conditions are automatically updated from the FAA aviation web service every 15 minutes using your existing WIFI network. No subscription is required.

- Glows purple for LIRF
- Pulsates if winds are 25 knots or greater

The metar light is a great addition to this meteorologist’s computer room! Dan personally called me the night I was setting up, as I was having connectivity issues. He talked me through the problem & it’s been working great. Customer service is A+! Dropped to IFR (red) last night during snow, but I hope the green light is a champ, as I’m guessing VFR will be on over 80% of the time here. I realize this was developed as a ‘novelty’ but I am enjoying its accuracy.
We purchased this for my brother-in-law who is a military training pilot. He has it on his office desk. It is a conversation piece that actually has function. He says when he walks into his office, he always taps it to get a general idea of what today’s weather is going to be.
I do have to say, this is probably one of the coolest things I have purchased! It is built rock solid and functions exactly as promised. Easy set up and the reporting for KBUF is crystal clear and accurate. The glass globe definitely takes it up a notch. Highly recommend!
